The Southeast Recovery Learning Community (SERLC) is looking to hire Peer Community Facilitators to connect with and facilitate groups in various under-represented neighborhoods throughout the southeast area of Massachusetts.
This is a five hour per week job which involves outreach into the communities of southeast Massachusetts as well as facilitating a weekly peer support group. More hours may be available depending on the current situation.
We are interested in candidates who are familiar with peer support, willing to share their lived experience to benefit others, and may have bilingual capacity, connections, and roots in the following communities of the southeast: Black/African American, Native American, Asian; Latine; Portuguese/Brazilian; Cape Verdean/Haitian; LGBTQIA+; Veterans; and Young Adults.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
**You must have a vehicle for this position and live in the Southeast area of Massachusetts with community connections.***
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
Driver's License check and vehicle required. Certified Peer Specialists desired.
EXPERIENCE:
Lived experience of mental health and/or substance misuse challenges required.
Experience in group facilitation required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
The Peer Community Facilitator:

Will answer directly to the SERLC Program Director.

Will collaborate with SERLC Team (the SERLC Program Director, and the four Area Program Directors) to provide strategic planning for future outreach to underrepresented communities.

Will document all connections by keeping count and reporting numbers for the monthly statistics for DMH.

Will maintain an ongoing list of email addresses for future emails of notification of events happening in the SERLC area, if given permission by the interested peer individual.

Will attend, in person, special quarterly events in the southeast area as determined by the SERLC Program Director.

Must adhere to all of BMC’s RESPECT behavioral standards.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

The Program Director will direct the operation of peer-operated Recovery Learning Community (RLC) setting(s) in which people with lived experience of mental health conditions choose to join as participants and work collaboratively on their recovery goals along with their peers.
Requirements

Current or previous experience as a recipient of mental health services required.

Work collaboratively with all other providers of RLC services within the contract to create a unified network of recovery-oriented support and activities.

Strive to meet high quality standards and provide excellent value to participants.

Provide leadership and consultation to participants and staff on implementing recovery-focused groups and activities.

Use and help RLC staff and volunteers to use rehabilitation values, principles and techniques, including skills training to help participants overcome barriers to their recovery
Salary: $50,050 / year
Schedule: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm

As a Recovery Youth Leader (Young Adult Peer Specialist), you will help address the needs and goals of the Transitional Age Youth (TAY) population by participating in TAY seminars, trainings and events. The Recovery Youth Leader will facilitate events and programs of the Recovery Learning Center that will foster a warm and welcoming environment. The Recovery Youth Leader will also communicate, represent, and promote the Youth Peer movement within the RLC and facilitate Peer-run groups.

Requirements:

Applicant must be of transitional age, between ages 21-25.

Current or previous experience as a recipient of mental health services required.

Basic familiarity inclusive of ability to enter and access data/information.

Excellent interpersonal skills to instill confidence and to advocate for SERLC participants.

Cultural sensitivity and comfort with a wide range of social, racial, and ethnic populations.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required; Associates or Bachelor's degree in Human Services is preferred.

Certification as Peer Specialist (CPS) in state of service preferred.
